Additional toppings of pizza are also highly nutritious. Tomato sauce is good for health. Onions are very beneficial because it lowers the blood pressure, cholesterol level and blood sugar. It is a rich source of chromium. Sometimes black olives are also added in pizzas which are very healthy. Olives contain ingredients which help in combating heart diseases and also lower the cholesterol level. Red pepper is generally added in the pizzas which is full of Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin A.

The main component of the pizza is dough. Dough has actually very high content of antioxidants. When the dough is baked in an oven, its antioxidant properties are enhanced. To make pizza healthier is simple enough. A vegetable pizza with the toppings of capsicum, tomatoes, onions stuffed with cheese are extremely healthy. So, one gets the right taste and all the health benefits when he consumes the pizza. If you fanatically like non vegetarian food then you can add grilled chicken to your vegetable pizza. Chicken is relatively healthy then red meat. As pizza offers many health benefits, it stands apart from other junk food.

The pizza has four basic components and they are toppings, crust, cheese and sauce but the number of varieties in pizza menu is endless. All it requires is imagination through which it can be prepared. Crust is the base of the pizza which can be prepared from various types of dough. The flour from which it is made can be whole grain wheat. Pizza dough is then stretched and tossed to give a perfect circular shape before baking it in oven.

Sauce of the pizza has to be tomato sauce which could be seasoned with various herbs and spices. The sauce used in making pizza should be absolutely thick. When it comes to toppings, one can give wings to his imagination. One can use variety of combination of vegetables, mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, cheese etc. One can also use beef, pork, chicken etc.

The most important ingredient of pizza is cheese and also it is the best part of it. Mostly mozzarella cheese is used in pizza.
